My name is Brandon and I’m a computer scientist turned brain enhancement geek.
It wasn’t too long ago when I was back in college (Go Temple!) ripping all-nighters and popping Adderall just to code up some stupidly simple programs, that I found myself seriously questioning my performance.
I should be finished with this dumb assignment already, but instead I’m sitting here sloppily tracing through the same blocks of code, wasting time trying to recall my train of thought, and peeping up every 5 seconds to check out the female passing my workstation.
Ultimately, I was effective because I got my work done (sort of), but my efficiency and productivity were sickening. I felt like I was working 10x harder and longer than what my assignments warranted.
What’s going on here?
So I started to analyze my performance and pay more attention to what’s causing me to struggle like this. I did have a couple concussions from playing football, I drink into oblivion, and I don’t do a damn thing to take care of my brain. Maybe it has something to do with that?
Nevertheless, the problem became painfully obvious…
I became mentally freakin’ deficient!
Brain fog, sluggish cognition, difficulty concentrating, lack of thought clarity, anger, fleeting mental endurance, unreliable recall, anxiety, second-rate working memory—even though I hid it pretty well, I was putting up with the works when it came to cognitive inadequacies.
My lifestyle is slowly ruining my brain… I wasn’t about to rock the rest of my life like this, I wanted my smart back!
So I made it my mission to do just that.
Personal experimentation/research and hundreds of books and courses in neuroscience, cognitive science, mindset development, cognitive psychology, nootropics, self-development, etc. later, I learned a few things.
Long story short, I drastically transformed both my mental capacity and overall outlook on life. Daily things I used to struggle with like poor memory, managing chronic anxiety and severe anger, self-discipline, decision-making, and productivity are now some of my strongest abilities—and it feels f*cking amazing!
But something very strange happened…
Now everyone else seemed to be mentally freakin’ deficient to me!
Did I just become a complete asshole?
I’m not claiming to be smarter than anyone. And I’m not saying anyone is stupid.
I’m saying, from my new perspective, I began to realize that way too many people are suffering from the same cognitive troubles I struggled with.
People are working their ass off day in and day out anxious, stressed, and unfulfilled because they are straining from severely impaired brainpower and toxic mindsets.
The brain is the be-all and end-all of a human’s true effectiveness. And while many are recklessly trying to produce results (like I did depriving myself of sleep, popping neurotoxic amphetamines, and downing brain crippling energy drinks, etc.), they are ruining the prized asset that is directly responsible for achieving those results at a high level.
We as humans are operating severely below our cognitive potential!
It’s a tragedy…
And then they told us we are stuck with what we got. Our brains stop growing after childhood. We are fixed and can’t do shit about it.
The most important thing I learned is that the brain has the remarkable ability to alter and develop its own physical structure throughout our entire life. It’s called neuroplasticity and it is a big f’in deal.
With the proper nutrition, exercises, and habits, the brain can grow better! This is an inherent property of the human brain that we can and should use to create radical improvements in cognitive function, perception, and performance.
I think it’s safe to say I discovered my passion: exploring the infinite power of the human brain and applying that power to fuel greater success and higher quality of life.
And while I still have far to go myself, I’ve come a long way and I want to help my fellow go-getters do the same. That’s why I created IntroBrain.com—the brain-based personal growth blog that’ll help you gain your own cognitive edge by enhancing your cognitive abilities, mindsets, and overall brain health.
Essentially, I created this site because I want to share the things that made my life better
And just like our brains, this site will be ever-evolving. New articles, guides, motivation, brain supplements (nootropics), training, and more brain-enhancing stuff will continue to be added.
So don’t miss out on the journey because remember, if you aren’t improving your brain, you’re letting it get worse.
